Summer Reading Program
Unearth a Story™
2026 Summer Reading Program
This year’s Summer Reading Program invites readers of all ages to dig into discovery with the theme Unearth a Story™. Inspired by dinosaurs, paleontology, and archaeology, the 2026 theme taps into topics that spark curiosity, imagination, and excitement—especially for children and families, but engaging for learners of every age.
The theme was selected with input from libraries across the country and reflects a shared enthusiasm for exploring the past and uncovering what lies beneath the surface. From ancient fossils and hidden histories to personal stories and local knowledge, Unearth a Story™ celebrates the thrill of discovery and the power of reading to unlock new worlds.
This theme encourages readers to look a little closer—whether that means digging into a great book, learning about history and science, or uncovering stories within our own community. It reminds us that everyone has a story to tell and that libraries are places where those stories can be found, shared, and explored.
Throughout the summer, the library will offer programs, activities, and reading opportunities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning. Join us as we explore, imagine, and unearth stories together.
